DETAILED 3 DAYS GOLDEN MONKEY AND GORILLA TRACKING ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival at Kigali International Airport
Morning arrival at Kigali International Airport. Meet up with our local Shoebill Safaris guide and transfer to Volcanoes National Park for Golden Monkey tracking. Volcanoes National Park is home to 340 of the remaining 1000 gorillas left in the world. It is located in the northern part of Rwanda, bordering the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Other species in this bamboo forest include golden monkeys. In addition, caving and volcanic climbing are also done in this park.
Later, visit Iby’iwacu cultural village and enjoy the diverse arts and crafts here as well as interacting with the local community that makes these crafts. You will be entertained by the traditional Kinyarwanda dance, popularly called the Intore dance by the people of this village. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 2: Gorilla Tracking Experience
Start your day with an early cup of coffee or tea. Then, begin your gorilla tracking activity in either Rwanda or Uganda, depending on your budget. A gorilla permit costs $1500 in Rwanda and $800 in Uganda. After tracking, return to your hotel for an overnight stay and prepare for your flight back home early the next day.
DAY 3: DEPARTURE
Drive back with local Shoebill guide to Kigali International Airport.
