ONE DAY MABAMBA SWAMP BIRDING
Mabamba swamp is found on Lake Victoria. It is accessible via Entebbe or Kasanje Route. It is connected to the main fishing villages of Busi Island. Fishing is the main activity with likes of tilapia and lungfish

Meet our Shoebill safaris guide/driver at your hotel and then proceed to mabamba swamp. You will board the boat from Nakiwogo landing site. We will then board the boat to the swamp. Mabamba boosts of over 300 different bird species. Notable is the much sought-after, “the mighty Shoebill stork”. There are several other swamp bird species that keep hoping from one papyrus to another. Some of these include; Papyrus Gonolek, Black Egret, Lesser Jacana, black-faced Rufous Warbler, Blue breasted Bee Eater, Pied Kingfisher, African Jacana, Orange weaver, African Pygmy’s Goose, Goliath Heron among others

The swampy experience cool breeze from Lake Victoria. It is punctuated with beautiful sceneries of vegetation on its shores. Guided by the site guides we will ward the swamp in search of the Shoebill. Once it’s located, we will spend some time taking some pictures and later make a return journey back.
Depending on your time, it could either be half of a full day’s adventure birding the swamp and the environs.

ONE DAY MABAMBA SWAMP BIRDING

Mabamba swamp is found on Lake Victoria that accessible via Masaka/Entebbe road. Connecting to the main fishing villages of Busi Island. The swamp is at kasanje town in hilly area. Fishing is the main activity with likes of tilapia, lungfish and papyrus vegetation. the swamp is the best owed with 33 important bird species like shoebill stork , papyrus gonolek and swallow especially at Ramsar site center of international tourist attraction that was created on 15th  September 2006

Itinerary

Day 1DAY BIRDING AT MABAMBA SWAMP

 

Arrival at hotel and greet your visitors and then proceed to mabamba swamp using Nakiwongo landing site route. This route of Uganda is bestowed with 330 species of birds with likes of the shoebill stork, papyrus Gonolek and blue swallow. The tourists are to sail with wooden boats via the swamp searching for shoebill stork that mainly feeds on fish, blue breasted bee eaters, African pygmy’s goose, African and lesser jacana and pied kingfisher.

The swampy waters experience cool breeze with beautiful sceneries and vegetation on its shores. The tourists are to spend here a couple of 2 hours explorering this exciting nature. Proceed to masaka en-route stop at mpigi district, a known site of drum making and learn also about Buganda kingdom biographies. Carry on your return to Entebbe international airport via Kampala capital city of Uganda
