3 Days Rwanda Safari Nyungwe forest

3 Days Rwanda Chimpanzee Trekking in Nyungwe Forest

These three days in Rwanda particularly take you to Nyungwe forest national park for Chimp tracking, an activity that gives you close encounters with the nearest cousins of man in the forest. Nyungwe forest national park is still the only park in Rwanda with chimpanzees, quite a big number that is only compared to Kibale forest national park in Uganda.

Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

Be picked from the airport or the hotel where you would have spent the previous night. The guide will brief you through the trip movements and ten transfer you to Nyungwe forest national park. The journey roughly takes about four to six hours, it will be fully flexible, having numerous stopovers at the points of interest. Arrival at the park will be in the evening just for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking & Canopy Walk

Early morning after breakfast, head to the park headquarters, you will have a simple briefing from the local ranger guide about the rules and regulations of chimp tracking. Now enter into the forest to hunt out for our nearest cousins in the forest. Unlike gorilla trekking, tracking the chimps is easier the fact that you hear them scream the moment you enter the forest. Spend one magical hour with the chimps on meeting them, watching them carry on their daily lives and taking pictures, as many as you want as long as the camera doesn’t have a flash.

In the evening, after a relaxation from a satisfying lunch, visit the local community to enjoy the traditional performance and taste the local cuisines. Have personal interactions with the local people to the world through their eyes, it’s just an experience worth for an evening.

Day 3: Transfer back to Kigali

Following breakfast, start the journey back to Kigali town, to a hotel that you booked or to the airport to fly back home. That will be the end of the three days chimpanzee trekking safari in Rwanda.
